One sewing machine at a time,changing the narrative of many young people
What if one sewing machine could be more than just a tool?
What if it could become a first step toward independence, a source of income, a reason to believe in oneself, and a pathway to a different future?
Through Turikumwe 1, we are witnessing how small opportunities can create meaningful change. By training young people on how to sew reusable pads and placing sewing machines in their hands ,we are not simply teaching a trade—we are opening doors to possibility.
In the coming weeks, we will share the stories behind this project: the young people who are learning, creating, struggling, growing, and discovering that their circumstances do not have to define their future.
These are stories of resilience, ambition, and community. Stories that remind us that change does not always begin with something big. Sometimes, it begins with one person, one skill, one opportunityand, in this case, one sewing machine at a time.
